CAER at Tory Conf 2026

With the UK’s electoral landscape at its most fragmented in history, First Past the Post (FPTP) could produce dramatic and unpredictable results at the next general election.

Would a divided right hand Labour another large majority, leave millions of centre-right voters without representation, or reward whichever party emerges strongest? And does the current system still offer Conservatives their best route back to government?

Conservative Action for Electoral Reform brings together leading Conservative voices, including former West Midlands Mayor Andy Street and Emma Best, Deputy Leader of the Conservatives in the London Assembly, to examine what FPTP means for the right at the next election, what Conservatives can learn from elections elsewhere in the UK, and how the party can rebuild a national electoral coalition.
