The adoption of a more proportional voting system enjoys great public support.
The latest BSA findings in June 2025 show that a clear majority of the population support a change to Westminster’s broken voting system – as 60% of the British public now support proportional representation.
The notion that the public opted in 2011 to retain FPTP is a gross misrepresentation. They opted to reject the non-proportional Alternative Vote (AV) – which, humorously given our party’s opposition to it, would have resulted in our 2015 majority doubling from 12 to 24!
The public has never had a say on moving to proportional representation.
